Don Bosco's Way of educating young people for happiness is a unique contribution to the science of holistic education.
Beginning in 1841, it has proved its versatility across continents, cultures and contexts, regardless of the differences and challenges so typical of grass-root implementation - from formal educational institutes of higher learning to non-formalprogrammes for children on the streets; from lobbying for child-rights at the UN to safeguarding those same privileges in the favellas of San Paulo or the bastis of Mumbai.
Following Don Bosco´s approach of educating young people, the Technical School in Sihanoukville is giving young Cambodians the unique opportunity and solid basis to start a professional career, which is exemplary in Cambodia.
At the same time, this approach is a contribution to support and improve the Cambodian economy, providing it with the skilled workforce urgently needed for the production of goods to improve Cambodias infrastructure and to be competitive on global scale.
It is little-known that the Don Bosco educational institution (especially the mechanical section) has modern equipment and machinery at its disposal, nowhere else to be found in Sihanoukville or the south of Cambodia. That enables the school to take orders from local businesses or residents for the production of equipment or parts, which otherwise would not be available in this region.
The Project of the Technical School in Sihanoukville is divided in six technical sections:

Don Bosco Hotel School
Don Bosco Hotel School of Sihanoukville has reached its second year of educational service to poor youth. Almost all the first 110 graduated students are already working in hotels, restaurants, and guest houses. This is a small but significative contribution to Cambodia after decades marked by violence and poverty. When enrolling students in our Hotel School, the priority is given to boys and girls coming from disadvantaged families and to orphans. Following St. John Bosco’s tradition, we try to help this youth-in-need preparing them for a job. One of the best ways to do this in an emerging international tourist destination is to offer them training in Hospitality and Hotel Services.
